Travel Safety Tips

Automobile Safety
  • Always make sure your vehicle is in good repair and has plenty of gas.
  • Carry a first aid kit, flashlight, and cell phone.
  • Make sure you are well rested before driving.
  • If at all possible, travel with a friend.
  • Allow extra time for weather and traffic complications.
  • Have your car keys securely in your hand when you leave a building.
  • When approaching your vehicle, check around it for hidden dangers.
  • Always lock your car door.
  • Don't leave any valuables in sight.
  • Park in a well lit area.
  • Never pick up a hitchhiker.
  • Always wear your seatbeat.
  • Have your travel route well planned.
  • If a car bumps you or an unmarked police car pulls you over; Make sure you don't get out of the car until you are in a well lit and public location.
  • Always put small children in a car seat located in the back seat of the vehicle.
Hotel Safety
  • Watch your luggage at all times.
  • Include a flashlight in your luggage and keep it by your bed.
  • Use both your room's deadbolt lock and chain when you are in the room.
  • Make sure windows are locked.
  • Verify the room phone works.
  • Don't leave valuables in your room; Use the hotel safe.
  • Use your peephole before opening the hotel room door.
